Development of an evaluation index for ADAS/AD sensors

Sensor reliability is essential for accurate perception (see–plan–act) and for the holistic validation of a sensor system. The SENSINDEX project will determine the methodology for testing sensor behavior with specified test scenarios in a laboratory environment to determine sensor quality. Among other things, the signal quality, the detection capability and the aging behavior of the sensors will be taken into account. The aim of the "SENSINDEX" project is to develop and define the methodology of a real and digital test field valid for sensor validation and type approval in order to be able to objectively describe sensor quality with describable parameters and KPIs (key performance indicators). This makes an important contribution to the creation of an independent standard in the evaluation of sensor performance.
