Yesterday we celebrated the successful completion of our funding projects in the field of sensor technology for autonomous driving with high-ranking guests. State Secretary Tobias Gotthard, local representatives from politics and administration, the team from VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH and our partners from Hochschule für angewandte Wissenschaften Kempten, OTH Regensburg and OTH Amberg-Weiden came together at the mobility and sensor technology center of AVL Software and Functions in Roding to present the impressive results of these projects.
What was achieved at the Roding site?
Thanks to funding from the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy and cooperation with competent partners, a high-performance innovation center has been created in Roding. One outstanding result: the ultra-modern weather test hall, which is unique in the world. With realistic weather effects and a high degree of automation, it enables fast, precise testing of sensors and systems under a wide range of conditions. This is complemented by the hall’s digital twin, which makes test processes more efficient and optimizes them for future projects.
The project results create real added value for our customers: What we have researched in recent years is now being put into practice – and we support our customers with the highest level of professionalism right through to series production. In this way, we drive technology forward together and ensure that innovation and research translate directly into customer benefits.
Another milestone is the “AutBus”: an autonomous bus based on a series vehicle that has successfully completed trial operation. These advances show how targeted innovation promotion strengthens the technological edge and mobility of the future.
Today, the Roding Mobility and Sensor Center is a leading location for autonomous driving and sensor innovations – and is paving the way for the connected and safe mobility of tomorrow. Let’s get started!
